New Year in Rimini

New Year in Rimini is a truly unique experience. Anyone staying in town on 31 December already knows that fun and entertainment are guaranteed and that they will go home at dawn on New Year’s Day feeling happy and carefree. This is because there are numerous opportunities to have fun, spending longest night of the year in a city decked out for the celebrations, and the word boredom, that doesn’t even exist here on the other days of the year, is abolished on 31 December. Shops and restaurants decked out with glittering decorations will keep you company until late night with shopping and the not to be missed New Year’s Eve Dinner, during which guests will savour excellent traditional dishes, accompanied by local wines: from tortellini to soups, from fish to zampone (stuffed pig’s trotter) and from cotechino (a type of sausage) to lentils, everything is an explosion of fragrances and flavours. In recent years, it has become traditional for locals and tourists to meet in the city centre to celebrate the arrival of the New Year along with a number of artists and singers who will entertain participants for the last few hours of 2010 from the stage set up by the Italian national TV channel, RAI, and broadcast live nationwide. Nightspots, discos and clubs are full to bursting trying to contain the indescribable desire of youngsters to dance and let lose with music chosen by the top Italian and overseas deejays.
